I have officially been promoted from being called "dhoodhoo" to "momma"! This happened maybe a week ago. Yes, Hana has bestowed us with names! About two days ago she also started saying "baba" as well. It only took Noah until he was about 19 - 20 months. Unsure if it's because she's the second child or because she's a girl, that she has caught on fairly quickly.
She's generally saying words a lot earlier than her brother. Here is her list:
Neo! = Bangla for "take it"
Appo = apple (one of Noah's first words too, lol)
No
Momma
Baba
Dhadha
Nanna = Noah
Nana
"Pleee" = she occasionally uses that word for water because one time Noah said "Pleaseeee" when asking for it and that has stuck, lol
(I know there are more but I can't seem to remember right now)
She's also very expressive. She will show you what she wants. She pointed to the fridge yesterday and will point to food until you put it in her mouth. And boy is she LOUD and fiercely independent, mashallah. I like to call her my little diva! As a newborn, she had tears coming out before she even left the hospital (and that's when I KNEW this girl was something' else)! She loves to feed herself but it is not always practical (like when we were at the airport 2 days ago) and will throw tantrums until she gets what she wants. Her tantrums are hilarious but leave me worried. She will kick and scream and throw things that her in her way, when she's having a meltdown. Noah definitely did not throw this many tantrums at such a young age, lol. I don't know where she inherited her anger from. I generally ignore her and she does get over it but hard to ignore when in a public sphere, where I'm always feeling like hawk eyes are on me, lol.
She's finally starting to walk a lot more consistently, also within the last 2 weeks. And she mostly dropped her two naps and has consolidated it into one semi long nap (depends on the day). Climbing stairs is her favorite! She hates whole milk on its own, in a bottle but loves eating cereal and milk.
Every day is different and every day is a blessing with these two in my life.
Alhamdulillah.
I'll probably do a more detailed update on Noah soon. Can't believe my baby boy is almost 3!

My Plate is FULL
This blog has taken a backseat in life. I think I commit to things without thinking it through. I've told myself to have a physical journal for the children, (started about 2 years ago) which is quite empty (but very pretty) and at the same time, I wanted to have this online version...AND ALONG WITH THAT, I convinced my mommy friends to create a group blog, which is also very MIA (except for 2 /10 dedicated writers). *insert sweating bullets* Maybe blogging just isn't my thing anymore.
So life update I suppose?! Hana is 9 days short of being 14 months. She has JUST started calling me momma consistently today! Although it's cute, it can be annoying to hear "MOMMA, MOMMA" x 2 x 24 hours (I exaggerate, lol) I was updating her milestones in a note on my phone. The last update I saved was from early in December 12...and two days ago, my phone basically had to get reset and I LOST EVERYTHING. Le Sigh, Anyway, she loves to climb the stairs. She isn't proficient so we must always stand behind her. AND SHE KNOWS SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO CLIMB ON HER OWN. How do I know this? She will head over to the first two steps (pre baby gate) and turn to look at us, waiting for our reaction of "OH NO HANA WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" Once we are startled, she will proceed to give a cute smirk and scurry up. She's a clever little one, mashallah. She also started walking more since last week, but she still does her one legged sit/ drag crawling (as you can see, I am not of the articulate type, HA)
Noah is almost 3. I cannot get that boy to speak Bangla if my life depended on it. He only speaks and responds in mostly English. Bilingual child, where art thou?! He is obsessed with superheros at the moment. If there was a stronger word for obsessed (no energy to google now), that would be him. He carries his "captain america" shield ALL day long, wears my prayer hijab as his superman cape, occasionally throws on his iron man mask, and continuously repeats "I'm going to saaaaaaave the day!" or "I'm fighting the bad guys" with hand in air and everything. He LOVES pretend play. Usually I'm the bad guy and he wants to fight me. He usually calls me "Pirate momma", as he has a pirate hat and sword, which I am forced to wear. In character, I am not allowed to call him Noah but must call him "Captain America". Hana has caught along and has been sword fighting with him for the last few months, and it's actually quite hilarious to see.
I am still not working, which means I am still breastfeeding, which means I have not figured out this weaning thing. Since she took to a bottle / cup well (drinking water), I thought "aww yeah, weaning her to whole milk will be SO easy!!" Boy was I wrong! Any bottle or cup that contains whole milk will be chucked across the room. I have semi given up and just stick to feeding her whole milk with cereal each morning. But I am very very grateful that I have been able to continue for this long! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought this was possible (Noah was only BF for about 4 months, returned to work and that idea plummeted pretty quickly). But I have been in communication with my previous employer to see what they could offer me.
Anyway, this post was all over the place. It's 429 am. I am thirsty and should get back to bed if I want to wake up for fajr, and be able to function running around after these two.
